Hi, I’m Ruth. I am so glad you’re taking the brave step to seek support. I understand that life can be challenging and I am here to stand beside you as you find your feet. Whether you are an individual or couple, I can help you improve your relationships and help you work through obstacles you may be facing. Along with anxiety and depression, I specialize in helping couples communicate, especially when things get rocky. I can help you dig a little deeper to determine the root cause of the challenges in your relationships and help you seek the connections that we all desire.
When working with couples I enjoy using Non-Violent Communication skills to help both parties express what they truly feel. Non-Violent Communication allows couples to exit the blaming cycle and identify what needs they have that are currently unmet in the relationship. I use Emotionally Focused Therapy to help clients learn new ways of emotionally connecting.
I hold a Master’s degree in counseling with a specialization in mindfulness. In working with me you will learn how to incorporate mindfulness into your daily life to help feel more present and grounded. I have worked in the addiction field for over five years and can help you improve your relationship with substances or other addictive behaviors.
If you’re struggling in these ways, please know you are not alone. I understand how addiction not only affects the individual using substances but the entire family system as well. I see the therapeutic process as a collaboration and fully believe in our human ability to change. I am LGBTQ+ allied and love working with folks of all identities.
When I am not working as a therapist I enjoy throwing pottery on my wheel, hiking with my husband, and spending time with our two pups.
Ruth is available to see couples and individual clients on Sundays, Mondays, and Tuesdays.
