Hello! I’m Adriana, a masters-level clinical therapy intern from the University of Colorado Denver. Originally from Northern New Mexico, I’ve made Colorado my home since 2016. At Inner Compass, my passion and hope in working with my clients is to help guide and question what authentic alignment with your values, needs, and desires may look like. My style is collaborative and curious. I strive to start the therapeutic relationship with my clients with a foundation of compassion and respect for the ways in which they have learned to navigate the ups and downs of day to day life.
As a queer woman of color, I recognize the importance of naming and discussing the ways in which social and contextual factors may impact my clients’ healing such as cultural values, intergenerational trauma, and systemic privilege and oppression. Moreover, I have training in Emotionally Focused Therapy and draw from several theoretical orientations such as Attachment theory, Narrative theory, Somatic Experiencing, and Solution-Focused theory as appropriate.
In our time together, my role is to support all of the different parts of my clients, including the parts that may bring upon feelings of shame, discontentment, or pain. I know the path to start, continue, and even re-start the healing process can be daunting. However, I truly believe that healing and finding new ways of experiencing life is possible and am excited to join you in your journey!
